Whether you want a night out without the kids or a week away for yourself, Fort Wayne, Indiana, has so much to offer. Its vibrant nightlife and wide array of retailers create a special atmosphere you won't find anywhere else. There's a mix of small, locally owned shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, too. Visitors will find so many exciting things to do in Fort Wayne for adults. You'll want to put this destination on regulation rotation in your travel plans.
1. Food and Drinks
Fort Wayne is an ideal celebration destination, whether you prefer hard cider, wine, or lemonade with a twist! During the summer, the town holds its Thirsty Thursday event every week from 4 pm to 8 pm, offering live music and plenty of drinks on The Landing®. With local DJs setting the mood, everyone is sure to have a good time.
The Landing also offers a dozen restaurants to try. Choose from fine dining, Asian fare, Cali-Mex, and American pub foods. Many eateries feature outdoor dining to take in the view and fresh air while you dine.
Fort Wayne is home to many breweries, cideries, and distilleries, including a 12-acre apple orchard featuring live music and food. While the Ambrosia Orchard, Cidery, and Meadery® is open for all ages, adults will find it a great getaway from the norm.
You might also want to check out the Dot & Line Brewery®. This unique taproom was created by a printing company. It offers several custom brews, including a Czech-style Pilsner, a Saison, and the super sweet Monster Scoop Banana Split, a sour beer featuring banana, pineapple, and cherries, as well as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry soft-serve ice cream powder!
Grownups may prefer visiting one of several wineries in Indiana, including Country Heritage®, which is the largest in the state. It has a quaint tasting room with six varieties to try, including those made from the fruits of the local Blueberry Acres and other growers across the country. The picturesque gazebo or wrap-around porch made for a perfect view while sipping your favorite varietal.
If that's not enough to whet your appetite, you may want to try the Union Street Market. It's the area's first public market with a food hall, and it was part of a vibrant renovation of the GE Campus. This new destination features over 20 retailers and food merchants, making it very easy to sample here and there for a truly adventurous experience.
2. Axe Throwing
Want a very grown-up way to get out some aggression and have fun, too? Axe throwing is the latest activity for a night on the town, and Dead Eye Dicks® has you covered with 4000 square feet of bar and axe-throwing space. Their computerized targets measure accuracy and give participants fun ways to play, such as a glow-in-the-dark blacklight experience. The fully-stocked Bullseye Bar serves visitors a wide range of IPAs, craft beers, and ciders to keep things lively.
3. Comedy Club
The Fort Wayne Comedy Club® has been offering comedy to locals and tourists since 2017. Founded by a comic, the venue highlights many underground names on the scene with its only rule, "It has to be funny." Since it relocated to 469 Sports & Spirits, visitors get a night of laughs and access to a full menu of food and drinks. Tasty bites include wings, pizza, sausage rolls, and grinders, which diners can wash down with a range of domestic brews.
With a wide range of comedic talent, including those from all over the country, this evening adventure will keep you laughing.
4. Mystey Dinner Theather
If your idea of a lively evening includes solving a live “who dunnit,” you can’t go wrong with the Dinner Detective® in Fort Wayne. This 15+ age show offers a four-course meal with your choice of main and a decadent dessert. This experience is part theatrical play, part game, and audience participation is required. The actors aren't even dressed in costume, so you won't recognize them hidden among audience members. If you ever wanted to be part of the action, this is a thrilling way to enjoy dinner and a show
5. Shopping
It should come as no surprise that one of the top adult activities in Fort Wayne is shopping! With so many retailers in one town, you could spend a full weekend visiting different shops and still not see them all.
Where should you start? It’s up to you, but Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center has your favorite major retailers and well-known clothing and accessories brands. Glenbrook Square is another shopping center with enclosed stores you can walk to from indoor pathways.
For something more unique, consider Aaron’s Fine Rug Gallery® with over 4500 handwoven wool and silk rugs to admire and choose from. The Cog and Pearl® is a whimsical outdoor and indoor shop with creative yard art, pottery, blankets, ponchos, and handcrafted art from Mexico, Nepal, and Kenya. If you care to make your own beautiful art, stop by Knitting Off Broadway® for a fine selection of dyed yarns and knitting supplies.
If you’re into gag gifts and silly surprises, make time in your schedule for Stoner’s Fun®. This store has been locally owned since the 1940s and features special effects makeup, costumes, magic trick kits, wigs, and makeup. They also have over 20,000 costumes in stock to rent.
6. Farmers Market
Consider visiting the weekly farmer's market between Webster Street and South Harrison Street for fresh meat, fruit, and baked treats. The market is open each Saturday throughout the year. It only allows items to be sold by the person who grew or produced them, giving the market a truly local feel. This bustling community sells the best of Fort Wayne's own goods, including coffees, chocolates, flowers, and crafts.
